Jhonkensy Noel
Jhonkensy Noel Back in minors
Thu, Jul 10, 2025, 3:45 PM
The Guardians optioned Noel to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday.
Analysis: Noel came up from Triple-A on Monday with Kyle Manzardo's move to the family medical emergency list, and the former will now head back to the minors following the latter's return. After turning a few heads with his impressive power in 2024, Noel has slashed just .140/.162/.215 with two home runs through 111 plate appearances in the big leagues this year.
Kyle Manzardo
Kyle Manzardo Rejoins active roster
Thu, Jul 10, 2025, 3:41 PM
The Guardians reinstated Manzardo from the family medical emergency list Thursday.
Analysis: Manzardo will rejoin the team after missing the minimum of three games while tending to a personal matter. He should slide right back into his usual spot as Cleveland's DH versus right-handers, whom he is slashing .220/.292/.402 against this season. Jhonkensy Noel was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
Jose Ramirez
Jose Ramirez Homers in three straight
Thu, Jul 10, 2025, 8:46 AM
Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Houston.
Analysis: Ramirez hit the second of back-to-back home runs in the first inning. It was the third consecutive game that he's gone deep. He later was part of a double steal in the seventh that put him in position to score the Guardians' third run. Ramirez is up to 17 home runs and 25 steals through 88 games.
Angel Martinez
Angel Martinez Homers in consecutive at-bats
Thu, Jul 10, 2025, 8:38 AM
Martinez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Astros.
Analysis: Martinez, who finished Tuesday's extra-inning win with a 10th-inning grand slam, homered in his first at-bat Wednesday. The blast extended a hit streak to six games, during which Martinez is 7-for-23 (.304) with five extra-base hits and five RBI. With Lane Thomas (foot) and Gabriel Arias (ankle) both on the 10-day injured list, Martinez has paths to playing time in center field and second base.
Johnathan Rodriguez
Johnathan Rodriguez First multi-RBI game of 2025
Wed, Jul 9, 2025, 9:49 PM
Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Houston.
Analysis: The 25-year-old righty-hitting outfielder drew the start versus southpaw Brandon Walter, and he enjoyed his first multi-RBI game of the season. With Lane Thomas (foot) on the injured list, the Guardians do have some extra reps to fill in the outfield for the time being. That said, Rodriguez has plenty of work to do if he wants to earn more playing time -- he's slashing a pitiful .152/.204/.239 with three home runs, two doubles, one triple and three RBI over 49 plate appearances.
Paul Sewald
Paul Sewald Claims second save Wednesday
Wed, Jul 9, 2025, 9:39 PM
Sewald picked up the save in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Houston, tossing a clean ninth inning. He struck out one.
Analysis: Closer Emmanuel Clase had worked each of the past three days for Cleveland, so he earned a well-deserved rest Wednesday. His unavailability paved the way for Sewald to claim his second save of the season as he looks to settle in as a high-leverage arm for the Guardians. Through his first 14.2 frames, the veteran right-hander owns a 4.91 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 18:2 K:BB with four holds.
Jose Ramirez
Jose Ramirez Skipping out on All-Star Game
Wed, Jul 9, 2025, 6:04 PM
The Guardians announced Wednesday that Ramirez won't participate in 2025 All-Star Game festivities next week while he focuses on recovery and preparation for the second half of the season.
Analysis: Though the historically durable Ramirez has thus far avoided any trips to the injured list this season, he's been banged up at various points through the first three-plus months of the campaign. As Zack Meisel of The Athletic notes, Ramirez sprained his wrist in late March, sprained his ankle in early May, and was most recently hit in the forearm by a pitch in late June. None of the injuries are expected to hinder Ramirez moving forward, and he'll remain in the lineup for Wednesday's series finale in Houston. Expect Ramirez to continue handling his usual everyday role during the Guardians' four-game series against the White Sox later this week to close out the first half before he uses the All-Star break for extended rest and recovery. The Astros' Isaac Paredes is slated to replace Ramirez on the American League All-Star roster.
Tim Herrin
Tim Herrin Optioned to Triple-A
Wed, Jul 9, 2025, 5:06 PM
The Guardians optioned Herrin to Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.
Analysis: Herrin has turned in a 3.99 ERA and 1.50 WHIP through 29.1 innings with the Guardians this season, but he'll be sent to Triple-A to clear room for Kolby Allard. The 28-year-old Herrin is only a year removed from posting a 1.92 ERA and 0.97 WHIP in 2024, and if he can recapture that form while in the minors, he should have a good chance to return to Cleveland at some point this summer.
Kolby Allard
Kolby Allard Recalled from Triple-A
Wed, Jul 9, 2025, 5:03 PM
The Guardians recalled Allard from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.
Analysis: Allard re-signed with the Guardians on a minor-league deal after electing free agency Tuesday, and he'll now reclaim a spot in Cleveland's bullpen ahead of Wednesday's game against Houston. The 27-year-old reliever will likely continue to pitch in middle relief for the Guardians, replacing Tim Herrin, who was optioned to Columbus in a corresponding move.
Kolby Allard
Kolby Allard Back with Cleveland on MiLB deal
Wed, Jul 9, 2025, 4:15 PM
Allard re-signed with the Guardians on a minor-league contract Wednesday, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Analysis: Allard was DFA'd by Cleveland last Thursday and elected free agency after clearing waivers. He's decided to return to the Guardians after logging a 2.55 ERA and 16:8 K:BB across 35.1 innings of work with the big-league club this season.
Brayan Rocchio
Brayan Rocchio Swats homer in win
Wed, Jul 9, 2025, 6:55 AM
Rocchio went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 10-6 extra-inning win over the Astros.
Analysis: Rocchio connected for his first homer of the season in the fourth inning, which gave the Guardians a 6-1 lead. The shortstop didn't do much initially after being recalled July 1, but he's gone 4-for-6 with two doubles, a home run and three RBI in two games to start the series against Houston. Rocchio will continue to get the majority of the starts at shortstop while Gabriel Arias (ankle) recovers on the 10-day injured list.
Jose Ramirez
Jose Ramirez Homers again
Wed, Jul 9, 2025, 6:46 AM
Ramirez went 1-for-3 with two walks, a home run, two RBI, two steals and two additional runs scored in Tuesday's 10-6 extra-inning win over Houston.
Analysis: Ramirez got the night started with a two-run home run in the first inning to give the Guardians an early lead. It was his second straight game with a homer and his third long ball in the last four games -- it's safe to say Ramirez has moved beyond the 0-for-21 slump he endured last week. He's up to 16 home runs and 24 steals for the season.
Angel Martinez
Angel Martinez Blasts first career grand slam
Tue, Jul 8, 2025, 10:32 PM
Martinez went 1-for-4 with a grand slam and a walk in Tuesday's 10-6 extra-inning win over Houston.
Analysis: Martinez smacked his first career grand slam in the 10th frame en route to setting a career high in RBI. The switch-hitting center fielder extended his hitting streak to five games and should see a bump in playing time with Lane Thomas (foot) on the injured list, but it's still been a tough season for him at the plate overall. Through 264 plate appearances, Martinez is slashing .238/.264/.371 with six home runs, 13 doubles, 30 RBI and five stolen bases.
Juan Brito
Juan Brito Back on Triple-A IL
Tue, Jul 8, 2025, 2:42 PM
Brito was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday with a left hamstring strain.
Analysis: Brito just returned from right thumb surgery less than two weeks ago and now he will be sidelined with a new injury. It's not clear at this point how much time he might miss. Brito has slashed .256/.357/.463 with three homers in 24 games with Columbus this season.
David Fry
David Fry Provides cushion in win
Tue, Jul 8, 2025, 8:00 AM
Fry went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 7-5 win over the Astros.
Analysis: Fry provided insurance with a solo blast in the ninth inning, paving the way for Cleveland to snap a 10-game losing streak. He continues to be the designated hitter against left-handers, but Fry doesn't have a lock on that role. Since being reinstated from the 60-day injured list, he's batting .153 (9-for-59) with three home runs and five RBI over 26 games.
Jose Ramirez
Jose Ramirez Cranks three-run bomb
Tue, Jul 8, 2025, 3:13 AM
Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a double and a three-run home run in Monday's win over the Astros.
Analysis: The switch-hitter delivered a three-run homer off Colton Gordon in the fifth inning to provide the power Monday. Ramirez came into the contest in a slump, batting just .139/.225/.222 with one extra-base hit and three RBI over his previous 10 games. Despite the recent struggles, he continues to post strong overall numbers, slashing .298/.361/.495 with 33 extra-base hits (15 home runs), 42 RBI and 22 stolen bases through 86 games.
Emmanuel Clase
Emmanuel Clase Nails down 19th save
Tue, Jul 8, 2025, 3:03 AM
Clase earned the save against the Astros on Monday by throwing a perfect ninth inning.
Analysis: Clase rebounded from Sunday's blown save against the Tigers by retiring the Astros in order Monday, closing out a 7-5 win by inducing three groundouts. His 2025 numbers -- a 3.20 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 39.1 innings -- aren't anywhere near as eye-popping as last season's 0.61 ERA and 0.66 WHIP in 74.1 innings, but the flamethrower's underlying metrics remain strong. A 2.49 FIP this year compared to 2.22 in 2024 suggests he's still pitching at a high level. The jump in walk rate to 2.3 BB/9, his highest since 2019, has certainly contributed to the statistical dip, but Clase remains a top-tier reliever.
Tanner Bibee
Tanner Bibee Loses steam in no-decision
Tue, Jul 8, 2025, 2:50 AM
Bibee did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing four runs on four hits and one walk over 4.2 innings against the Astros. He struck out three.
Analysis: The right-hander cruised through four innings Monday before a three-run homer by Taylor Trammell and a solo shot from Isaac Paredes tied the game and chased him with two outs in the fifth. Bibee has hit a rough patch over his last eight starts dating back to May 27, recording a 5.36 ERA and 1.26 WHIP over 45.1 innings during that span. While still serviceable, his overall season numbers -- a 4.35 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 103.1 innings across 18 starts -- mark a step back from his 2024 campaign, when he posted a 3.47 ERA and 1.12 WHIP over 173.2 innings in 31 outings.
Jhonkensy Noel
Jhonkensy Noel Back with big club
Mon, Jul 7, 2025, 4:02 PM
The Guardians recalled Noel from Triple-A Columbus on Monday.
Analysis: Noel was sent down to Columbus a month ago after putting up an ugly .392 OPS and 31.8 percent strikeout rate over 107 plate appearances with Cleveland. He could be up with the big club for a brief spell, as Kyle Manzardo was placed on the family medical emergency list Monday and will be eligible for activation as soon as Thursday.
Kyle Manzardo
Kyle Manzardo Goes on family emergency list
Mon, Jul 7, 2025, 4:00 PM
The Guardians placed Manzardo on the family medical emergency list Monday.
Analysis: By rule, Manzardo must miss the team's next three games and a maximum of seven contests. The Guardians could mix and match at designated hitter against right-handed pitching until Manzardo returns to the lineup.
